September 13, 2023 ~ A Wise Person Once Said

Good morning!

So I'm more than pleased with what I wrote about last night because it is the POINT of this blog. To try to make a difference. The only way one can do that is with honesty and it can't get much more honest than that. Upon reflection, I have much more to say but it will need to wait for now. It's a work day after all!

I will say that guardrails were hit and alcohol had absolutely nothing to do with it at the time. Not one drop was in my system during that manic episode many years ago.

Alcohol has not been the culprit of oncoming episodes in the past, but, perhaps the amount of alcohol taken in has been a red flag. A symptom. It's definitely a topic to revisit. For now...

This has been an amazing morning already in part due to the fact that I let myself go to sleep early last night. I went line dancing and had a nice low carb dinner at the Great American Ranch in Mechanicsville, a side of BBQ and a salad, but decided to cut the night in half simply from fatigue and came home. I did have to get up at 5:30am in order to get ready and get to the corp office in Hampton for our 8:30am Tuesday sales meeting, after all!

It's also already been a great morning because I'm still doing all that I need to do. My ad for the Dugout was designed and scheduled for this morning yesterday (before my post about drinking), so I didn't need to worry about it. I woke up without an alarm at 7am and showered, washed and did my hair, put on my makeup and am ready too walk out the door at 9am. I took my meds and vitamins, took care of the dogs, drank my coffee. I may make some eggs quickly when I'm done with my post. I straightened up the living room, made my bed and turned over laundry.

All the while I thought a lot about what I want to say in this blog about mental illness, drinking, and sex. To a unique audience, because soon I will share it with my peers in the recovery community. People I've worked with and for in the mental health industry who may have mental health challenges of their own or still work in the field.

I hope you all are having an amazing start to your day too!
